Ulul Azmin toinen tuotos sisältää varsin perinteistä noisea. Äänimaton
päällä on puhesamplea, jossa kerrotaan siitä miten Jeesus korjaa
hampaat. Eli mitenkään erityisen omaperäisellä tasolla ei liikuta, ja
mieleen tulee (tälläkin kertaa) äkkiä varsinkin Strom.ec:n tuoreempi
tuotanto.

J. K. kuitenkin käsittelee metalliromua ja analogista
elektroniikkaansa niin hyvin, että kliseisyys ei haittaa. Soundi on
hiukan ohut, mutta varsinkin puolivälissä purskeina tulevat
noise-vallit tekevät todella kovan vaikutuksen. Samoin hienosti
rauhoittuva loppu pelaa erittäin hyvin, ja koko häly tuntuu jollakin
oudolla tavalla seuraavan päällä olevan puheen poljentoa. Tässä on
tekijä jolta haluan ehdottomasti kuulla lisää.

Perusnoisea, mutta oikein hyvää perusnoisea. Soundit saisivat tosin
olla vielä hieman rouheammat.

Ulul Azmi’s second publication contains noise of a quite traditional
kind. On top of that sound layer is a speech sample, on which there’s
religious speech about Jesus miraculously healing damaged teeth. So
this isn’t something moving in very original patterns, and this time
(too) one soon thinks of the more recent works of Strom.ec. the
artist, J.K. , however handles his analog electronics and metal junk
so well that the clichés are not a problem. The sound-world is a bit
thin, but especially the noise walls which appear mid-way in burst
make a great impression. The smoothly calming end works likewise
really well, and throughout the way there is a strange feel of the
noise following the speech samples’ flow. This is an artist from whom
I definitely want to hear more stuff.

Basic noise, but damn fine basic noise. Would benefit from a fuller,
rougher, more encompassing sound-production, though.
